Anger the Destructor of Noble Qualities

Anger is definitely an emotional response in connection with one's emotional interpretation of having been threatened.  Often this implies when a person's basic boundaries are broken. Anger can be utilized successfully when helpful to set limits or avoid from unsafe situations.

Concept about anger in Islam

  The word “Ghadab” is used in Quran for Anger. Anger is provoked by Satan.  Elements stated to cause anger contain selfishness, arrogance and increased ambition. Anger shut out the Imaan of a person. Anger is an unseen dagger of man towards of evils but sometimes it gives the result of numerous noble traits. Fury snatches out the wisdom from the man and he becomes mindless. Anger is a compotation and trickiness from Satan. It is the ground of every evil. Anger is a sparkle of fire that is always crusting. Anger is other name of wrong passion and displeasure.

What does Quran say about anger?

“And when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with ‘Salamaa’ (peaceful words of gentleness).” (Qur’an, 25:63)

At another place it is said that:-

  “If they pass by some vain speech or play, they pass by it with dignity.” (Qur’an, 25:72)

What does Ahadith say about anger?

The beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said that:-

“He who gave up disputing while he is right, a palace of high rank in Paradise will be built for him. He who gave up disputing while he is a fabricator, a palace in the center of Paradise will be built for him.”

It is narrated by Hazrat Ayesha (RA) that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said:-
“The most hated person with Allah is the most quarrelsome person.” (al-Bukhari)

One Hadiths about anger is:-
“The believer does not curse.”

Once a nomad comes to the prophet of Allah and said to him that advice me. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said that:-

“If a man defamed you with what he knows about you, do not defame him with what you know about him. For the sin is against him.” The nomad said, “I never abused any person after that.”

 What a person should do at the time of anger?

We have emotions as a human. So our reaction shows our negative or positive emotions. Sometimes we may loss our own logic we are not able to control your emotions. Most of us behave in a strange behavior. If you lose control with your emotions in addition to react negatively they need to be advised ahead of time how to proceed in this type of situation. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) gave us a way to have control on anger.

·         You should seek refuge in Allah’s mercy. Do Wadu. It will help you to have control on anger. It is said by Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) that:-

“Anger from Shaytan; Shaytan from fire; fire is put out by water; so when angry do wudu”

·         You should change your body position to avoid the anger. If you are standing you should sit. If you are sitting you should stand. If you feel still angry you should lie down.
·         When you feel angry you should stick your cheek on ground.
·         Diverting your attention is an best way to avoid the anger
·         When you feel angry remains silent. Don’t speak too much.
·         Whenever you feel angry do recite:-


May Allah forgive our sins, give us enough strength to practice the values of Islam and show us the right path (AMEEN)
