In Quran E Hakeem it is said by Allah Almighty
that:-
“And those who had
established home (in this city) and the faith, before them, they love those who
migrated to them and find not in their hearts any need for what they were given, and give preference
over themselves, even though poverty happens to be their lot. And, whoever is
saved from niggardliness of his own soul, those, they are the
success-achievers.”
Selflessness
is also a type of good deeds. The wordily meaning of selflessness is “to
prefer”. Its mean that selflessness is to prefer other needs then his/her own
need. To sacrifice your own need for the
need of others is Selflessness. The word sacrifice is also used for
selflessness. Selflessness can be for one person, for one group or for one
country. It is a very good quality. Almost every nation on earth has
experiences of wonderful kings, brave enthusiast and noble women and men who
sacrificed their material belongings, status or maybe themselves for most or various
other common excellent. It is the root of every good deed. The prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that:-
“None of you truly believes until he loves
for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari)
In real words the great is that person who is
selfless. In reality no work can be done without selflessness. The opposite of
selflessness is selfish. The whole life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) leaded all
his life in selflessness. He leaded all his life in this mission. He faced a
lot of troubles. He fought battles and faced troubles in these battles. He saw
the moments of troubles. This all will not for the His own self. This all was
for the Ummah.
From the
court of the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) NO asker returned with empty hands. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and His wives never
ate the full meal of two times. Its meaning is not that He did not have food.
He was the leader of the country. He could eat what he wanted but He preferred
to give others. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said that:-
“The
best charity is that given when one is in need and struggling.” (Ibn Katheer)
“…And
they give others preference over themselves even though they were themselves in
need….” (Quran 59:9)
The above mentioned verse seemed to be actually
revealed in link with what seemed to be, perhaps, the solitary greatest work of
public altruism previously witnessed inside history associated with mankind.
The best example of selflessness is the example of Insaar E Madina. Insaar and Muhajreen
created the best example of brotherhood. They become brothers of each other.
They distributed each and every thing. Hazrat Abdul Rehman told that:-
“When
we came to Medina, the Messenger of God established bonds of brotherhood
between me and Sa’d b. al-Rabee. Sa’d said: ‘I am the wealthiest of the
Ansar, so I will give you half of all my wealth. And see which of my
wives you prefer, I will divorce her for you, and when she becomes lawful (as a
divorcee), you can marry her.’ I (Abdur-Rahman) said to him: ‘I do not
need that. (But tell me), is there a marketplace here where people
trade?’ Sa‘ad said: ‘There is the marketplace of Qaynuqa’…
And so, the following day Abdur-Rahman went to the market to begin
trading. Before long, he was once again wealthy, as he had been in Mecca,
and able to marry of his own accord.” (Saheeh
Al-Bukhari)
In Quran it is said that:-
“And
those who, before them, had homes (in Madina) and had adopted the Faith, love
those who emigrate to them, and have no jealousy in their breasts for that
which they have been given (from booty and the like), and they give (the
emigrants) preference over themselves, even though they were themselves in
need. And whosoever is saved from the covetousness of their own souls, such
are they who will be successful.” (Quran 59:9)
Levels
of selflessness:-
1.
To treat your
servant as a brother.
2.
To treat with
Muslims as you’re equal.
3.
To prefer
his/her works then your own.
The highest level of selflessness
is to please Allah over pleasing the self.
May the great God give us courage to please Him and
to serve the humanity. (Ameen)
