The Importance of Justice in Islam

The meaning of justice:-

In Islamic world justice give the meaning of placing the things in right order in a right way. The other meaning of justice is to give equal rights to others. In Islam justice is moralistic a great value.  Justice is basically the root of peace. Where justice will be there peace will be. Islam is the other name of peace. If the justice will not be there peace will not be there. If the peace will be not there Islam will be not there. So justice and Islam are closely linked together. If an Islamic society will lost justice it cannot be called an Islamic society.

The importance of Justice

Justice is important for every society. In Islamic society it is most important. If the justice will be in a society in that society no one can do wrong. Islam is the religion of justice and peace. Justice is a one of the central themes of Holy Quran. Justice is a supreme virtue. If everyone will get the equal rights no disturbance will be in any society.

What Quran and Ahadith have said about justice?

As it is said above that justice is one of the central themes of Islam. At one place in Quran it is said that:-

“Verily, Allah enjoins justice, good-doing, and giving to kin. And He forbids the indecent, evil and rebellion. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be mindful.”

At another place it is said in Surah E Al Mahida that:-
“Believers! Stand out firmly for Allah, bearing testimony to justice and let not the detestation of a people lead you to injustice. Be just. That is nearer to taqwa. Fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Aware of what you do.”

Allah has said at another place in Quran:-

“Surely, Allah commands you to deliver the Trusts back to those they are due  and that, when you judge between the people, you judge fairly. Noble is that to which Allah exhorts you. Surely, Allah is All-hearing, All-observing.”

Ahadith about justice:-

Ahadith E Qudsi is that:-

“I shall take revenge on the oppressor in this world and the next. I shall take revenge on someone who saw the person being oppressed and was able to help him but did not”

Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) Said that:-

The best Jihad is to speak a word of truth to a tyrannical ruler”

It is narrated by Hazarat Jaffar al Sadique (RA) that:-

“Whoever assists an oppressor against an oppressed one always remains under Divine anger until he stops aiding the tyrant”

A very heart touching Ahadith narrated by Hazrat Anus is:-

Allah’s Apostle said, “Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?” The Prophet said, “By preventing him from oppressing others.” (Sahih Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 43, Number 624”

In the light of this Ahadith the importance of justice is lighted. We should help other Muslim when he is oppressed or he is oppressing. We should judge ourselves. Some time we do help our Muslim brother but in negative way. We take a wrong side even if h/she is wrong. So we should avoid this.

Importance of social justice

Islam put a great emphasize on that principles which build a relationship among the society. The one important principle is social justice. The meaning of social justice is to give the deserved rights to everyone in the society. It is likewise the egalitarianism in circumstances i.e every individual has a chance to scale the social step. The basic three elements of social justice are:-

·         The absolute freedom of conscience.
·         The complete equality of all men.
·         The social interdependence among members of the society.

Our society is in the grip of certain problem and one of the causes of these problems is justice. We don’t do justice in our daily lives. We take the side of that person who is our relative are from the cast of our’s. We try to prove that person right who does wrong. It’s a evil. We should try to say truth on the base of justice. It’s a kind of Jihad. We should say truth without any discrimination. May Allah give us the power to say the truth. ( Ameen)
